Role in HFCY AmeriCorps*NCCC is a ten month residential national service program for young women and men between the ages of 18 and 24 years. During their term of service, members work on unmet human needs, health and public safety, environmental, and education projects. In addition to these areas, NCCC volunteers also assist the American Red Cross in disaster relief assignments. NCCC became involved in HFCY when Robert Atkins and Daniel Hart, the organization's founders, determined that there was a great need in the Camden area for education about health issues. They applied to NCCC for assistance, and the program's administrators at the Perry Point, MD campus responded by agreeing to send four teams. The team that began the project is depicted below.
