Healthy Futures for Camden Youth Healthy Futures for Camden Youth is a non-profit organization that is striving to meet the community health needs of Camden. Specifically, HFCY has targeted health concerns related to children and teens.
We try to do the best for our kids. From before they're born . . . until the day they finish school. Nothing's more important than keeping them healthy. But finding the money for prescriptions and doctor bills isn't easy. Now there's new free or low cost health care for kids. It's important for children to see the doctor even when they're not sick. Doctors can find and treat medical problems early and make sure that your children grow up healthy. Health insurance makes it easy for your children to get the medical care they need. One of Healthy Futures target areas is helping families enroll their uninsured children into New Jersey KidCare, an easily accessible and affordable health coverage plan. Often times, families encounter questions and confusion regarding the application process for NJ KidCare. Representatives from Healthy Futures are prepared to sit down with a family and cooperatively complete the application with them. In doing this, we can assure you that the application has been completed correctly and will be processed as soon as possible. If you are interested in a Healthy Futures Representative helping you with the NJ KidCare application process, please contact us, and remember, it is all for free!
Lead PoisoningChildhood lead poisoning is the number one preventable environmental health risk in young children. Healthy Futures has dedicated its representatives to educating families on the dangers of lead poisoning and, more importantly, ways to protect themselves from being exposed to lead. If you are interested in a free lead poisoning presentation or if you have any questions, please contact us.
AsthmaAsthma is a serious lung disease. During an asthma attack, the airways get narrow, making it difficult to breathe. Symptoms of asthma include wheezing, shortness of breath, and coughing. Asthma can even cause death. If you have asthma or a child with asthma, you are not alone. About 17 million Americans have asthma. Asthma is the leading cause of long-term illness in children. Healthy Futures knows that the air that children breath can make a difference. We offer free presentations educating parents on how to reduce asthma triggers in their homes.
